What Drives Us – Mercedes

⊆ June 8th, 2010 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

Simple & slick branding site from Mercedes Benz USA. Featuring an array of videos and images wrapped around a smart 3d interface. I really like the 3d menu system that is very modern and sleek but remaining easy and fun to use. Some nice content here too, all with a thick layer of polish.

Toyota Prius

⊆ February 1st, 2010 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

Website for the Toyota Prius for the Russian market. Really nice motion graphics and videos to introduce features of the car – followed by nicely designed info screens highlighting the specifics. Loads of really cool animations and a massive attention to detail – really like the way the car appears in the info screens and the sleek well considered design. Sound design is also great, all in all a pleasure to use and a very informative, fun consumer site.

Skoda Yeti

⊆ January 8th, 2010 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

Simple, fun, and engaging site for the new Skoda Yeti. Incredibly simple idea, the car drives through a series of videos in various environments – cities, countryside, beaches, and so on. This all gives the impression of the car driving through one seamless scene – where the car is always centred in the screen, occasionally it stops to highlight some product info – where you can also find out more if you want. The beauty, for me, is in its simplicity – and the fact it is just fun! The way the videos work is great and overall it feels quite polished and all well thought out. Love it!

SAAB – Change Perspective

⊆ September 2nd, 2009 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

saab change perspective

Site showcasing SAAB, it’s history and philosophy, with the aim to show the audience SAAB’s perspective. Nicely designed and produced beautifully this simple site has several small interactive experiences highlighting certain features of the car. I really appreciate the minimal design, well considered layout, with fantastic assets and playful interactivity, one of the best examples of the ‘desktop’ interface I have seen – great attention to detail.

Ford Edge

⊆ May 6th, 2009 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

ford edge

Site promoting the new Ford Edge. Nice looking site with lots of animations, transitions, and so on, bit of a weird one, I guess because it is mainly for the Brazilian market the copy does not translate across so well. Nothing ground breaking, but interesting and varied animations, attention to detail and lots of movement, all making it visually ‘exciting’.

Internavi Realization – Honda

⊆ March 20th, 2009 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

honda internavi

Site promoting Honda’s Internavi GPS system. One part of the site visualises the ‘neuron road’ concept, whereby the car fitted with the Internavi system constantly communicates GPS coordinates, showing a simple animated map of various Japanese city roads, which you can pan around and zoom in / out of. Another really nice feature is a time lapse drive of a coastal road to illustrate the fact the Internavi system has a ‘scenic route’ mode which searches for the most scenic roads for you. Again I dig the simplicity of the Japanese style, it seems for like an inspired ‘art’ project than a promotional site, but pretty cool visualisations. Lots of nice interactions and attention to detail, you can also download the screensaver for each…

Hyundai Genesis Coupe

⊆ March 4th, 2009 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

hyundai genesis coupe

Really nice site for the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Very slick, simple site that features multi angle videos showing the car being driven at high speed around a race track. You can add and remove cameras to the interface to see the action unfold, even with driver’s commentary, you can also enlarge any view. Really nice sound track of the car’s engine, with some subtle hints of music in other sections. Nice twist on the 360 degree video of the car,  with it doing a donut! The main features highlighted whilst tracking the car, pretty cool. There is also a subsection of the site where you can edit your own video using clips from the shoot, all in a mock Premier Pro interface, very full on, can imagine it took a long time to code! Extremely detailed online editing tool! Lots of polish and attention to detail, from the preloader to the rollovers, very very cool…

Honda FIT

⊆ December 23rd, 2008 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

Fantastic site promoting the Honda FIT. Very cool interface, with a the car centre stage, you click and drag the car around and the thumbnails which float around the car in 3D space move so you can select them. Each section features something different, some with little games or images, each highlighting different features of the car. It’s a really fun colourful site, with a really nice use of 3D – which is followed through to the information sections – which is actually quite good fun. I like that you have to explore to get to the various sections – as they are fun you want to see most of them. Love the floating thumbnails and the great feeling of depth in the site, awesome.

Audi – Vorsprung durch Technik

⊆ November 20th, 2008 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

Incredible Flash 3d particle execution promoting Audi and their efficiency. A series of mesh like structures make up various shapes to visually represent a 3d model, which you can interact with and move around, i.e. when you click on ‘engines’ the dots form up a model engine. Presented in a very simple black and white minimal interface the particles are well presented. Looks a lot like scatter radar, and similar to the 3d interactive Radiohead video. I have been loving the boundaries Audi and their digital agencies are breaking with their creative work, inspirational and bold. Very nice…

Ford KA

⊆ August 14th, 2008 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

Ford Ka

Great website for the new Ford Ka in Brazil. Based on the concept that you are tiny – you select an insect character to begin the story – so you can explore the features of a car from a new, small perspective. The site is navigated horizontally scrolling through a tapestry of surreal artwork showing the features of the car. There are lots of little interactive and animated elements encouraging you to explore the various sections and thus discovering the features of the car. I really like the attention to detail but also the style of the artwork, slightly bleached and surreal, it looks fantastic. A really interesting way of providing a unique user experience promoting a car – much more interesting than the usual car sites.

Lexus RX 350

⊆ July 23rd, 2008 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

Lexus RX 350

Russian website for the Lexus RX 350. Working on the premise of not clicking, you interact with all sections of the site just by mousing over elements of the site. Initially a bit clunky but you get used to it, but it is an interesting approach that works well. The site looks great, with loads of really effective transitions and animations, and many nice touches. Some sections are done in a quasi 3D paralax style which, again, looks great and works well – nice site.

Play > Smart

⊆ June 5th, 2008 by Dan | ˜ No Comments »

Play > Smart

Another great Japanese website, this time promoting the Smart car in Japan. In 3d you can design and drive your own Smart car, the great thing about the driving part is the way it is thought out. Presented in a ‘join the dots’ fashion, you drive your car from point to point, when completed the camera zooms out to reveal the picture you have just made, you can then download it or try again. There are several puzzles to complete and you get points to unlock design parts for your car. This is all set in a fun, easy to use look and feel, just a fun well thought out and executed site. Similar in many ways to the Red Bull Flightlab.
